Trish McMillan holds a Master of Science degree in animal behavior from the University of Exeter in England and is currently the senior manager of the ASPCA shelter's behavior department in Manhattan. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and a graduate of the San Francisco SPCA's Academy for Dog Trainers. She is the Board Advisor for APDT's Legislative Affairs Committee.
Trish has shared her life with dogs for 30 years and has also tried her hand at training horses, rats, pigeons and cats. She has worked with shelter dogs since 1996 and in 1997 started the Vancouver Animal Control's first volunteer and foster programs. She has been a behavior volunteer at the San Francisco SPCA and has trained volunteers for the Open Paw shelter program. Over the years she has also managed dog daycares, taught private and group lessons and done board-and-train work.
Trish lives in New York City with three brilliant second-hand dogs: Sara, a grumpy senior Doberman Pinscher, Kenya, a caffeinated San Francisco Squirrelhound, and has recently taken her first foray into high octane herding breeds with the latest addition, Cosmo, an Australian Shepherd.
