Melissa "Mel" Bussey has been an APDT member since 1998. She has served on the Board and the Executive Committee since 2003, and was the Chair of the Member Relations and Communications Committee from the fall of 2000 through 2002.
Mel has worked hard to help improve communications, including promoting the publication of APDT Board meeting minutes on the Web site and including meeting highlights in the Member News Bulletin. She also helped create the Think Tank, co-founded the Legislative Action Committee, and developed a policies and procedures manual for the vast array of tasks that face the MRC chair.
Mel is the owner of Training Tracks Canine Learning Station in College Corner, OH, offering positive-reinforcement-based group classes and private lessons, in-home training, and behavioral modification. She is currently working with two local shelters to develop volunteer dog training programs to enhance the adoptability of dogs in their care. In addition to attending all conferences and mini-conferences since 1998, she has attended Purdue's DOGS! course, all three sessions of Bob Bailey's Chicken Camps, and has a bachelor's degree in Organizational Behavior.Contact Information
