A dog trainer for over 35 years, Gail owns All Dogs Gym® (www.alldogsgym.com) training, boarding, daycare, and event facility employing 48 people, and All Dogs Academy for Professional Trainers™ with a staff of 8. Her experience and background “in dogs” includes breeding, showing, competitive obedience, agility, seminars, camps, and training dogs from household pets to hearing and service dogs. In the 1980’s Gail was designated the “trainer of trainers,” with publication of her first books (with Jack Volhard), Training Your Dog, and Teaching Dog Obedience Classes, the textbook for the very first University course for trainers, a two-year certificate program she developed and taught at the University of New Hampshire. In 2004, Gail started a program at the NH Correctional Facility teaching inmates to train service dogs, which she ran for three years.
A member of the APDT’s Educational Task Force, Gail’s first love is education: spreading humane training and understanding of dog behavior, presenting seminars throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. Our Dogs Magazine (England) named her one of the top five international lecturers on dog behavior and training. A weekly newspaper columnist, Gail’s latest book is Training a Thinking Dog: The Complete Crossover Guide to Clicker Training.
