Job Description
Reports to: Education Committee Chair/Liaison and APDT Educational Programs Coordinator
Time Commitment
Minimum of 10-15 hours/month.
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience in the specific domain area for the Subject Task Force.
- Proficient in use of the Internet and email with ability to reply quickly to emails on a daily basis.
- Ability to use video chat systems such as Skype, Oovoo or Google+ without technical assistance.
- Experience with using Microsoft software such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- APDT Professional, Full, Associate or Lifetime Member in good standing for at least one year.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience developing and implementing a successful training programming for professional trainers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other trainers with diverse backgrounds, strongly held beliefs and differing opinions on training methods
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond quickly on short notice
- Knowledge of a wide variety of ways of working with dogs and their owners
- General knowledge of the forums available to trainers for credentialing and education in dog training
- Knowledge and experience in credentialing and education programs for fields other than dog training
Committee Goals:
Each domain task force will be tasked with developing review criteria for existing educational resources and gathering and analyzing data on those resources. Each task force will also assist in the creation of a database for an assessment tool for potential and active dog trainers and behavior counselors.
Job Description:
Task Force members work with the APDT staff who are responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing task force goals, objectives and strategies to accomplish its mission.
Responsibilities:
- Complete tasks on a timely basis and productively participate; including attending all phone and internet meetings of the task force.
- Develop criteria, with the APDT staff and consultants, for reviewing existing educational resources for the domain.
- Using criteria developed by task force, research and analyze existing resources to develop a resource database.
- Identify gaps relevant to the domain in existing educational resources.
- Assist with developing questions for database for a pre-assessment online tool for trainers and behavior consultants, and potential trainers and behavior consultants.
