Comfort Zone with D.A.P.™ (2011) Community Educator of the Year
About the Award
This award is for an APDT member who exemplifies the APDT spirit through commitment to educating their community about how to make it a more comfortable place for both dogs and people. The successful applicant is able to relay passion, enthusiasm, positive attitude and a contagious spirit.
The Comfort Zone with D.A.P.™ 2011 Community Educator of the Year Award requires the submittal of a 500 word essay from an APDT member in good standing. Applicant should submit an essay that describes the following qualities in the recipient:
- Empathy for animals and humans
- Positive approach to educating humans on techniques of good dog parenting
- Positive Reinforcement Approach to Training
- Accessibility of venues where dog parenting information is taught
Essay Requirements
- 500 words (approximately 2 pages)
- Each page headed with essay title
- Double spaced
- Title page on a separate page, exclusive of the essay pages to include: Essay title, name, address, telephone, number, email address
- Submitted in electronic format
- One essay entry allowed
Required Supplemental Materials (3 to 5) can include
- Power Point Presentation
- Brochures
- Handouts
- Flyers
- Booklets
Methods for Submitting Your Application

Any application received after the deadline date will not be eligible for the award.
Award
The winning Community Educator will receive up to $1,500 to go toward travel, meals and hotel and free admission to the APDT Educational Conference. The deadline for entry is May 10, 2011.
