| Nancy Williams, MA |
Nancy Williams has a full-time training and behavior practice in Manchester, Maryland, and has worked with dogs for over 30 years. She specializes in the handling and training of dogs exhibiting aggressive or phobic behaviors. Ms. Williams earned a Masters degree in experimental psychology with a focus on aggression and phobia in dogs. Ms. Williams is an Associate Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (ACAAB), certified by the Animal Behavior Society, and is a registered veterinary technician in Maryland.
Ms. Williams has published articles on novel methods to modify behavior in dogs and has served as an expert witness in court. She also serves on an Animal Matters Appeals Board in order to issue determinations on dangerous dogs. She was a member of ASPCA Canine behavior evaluation team with Dr. Dan Estep and four other Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists who evaluated the Michael Vick fighting Pit Bulls.
Ms. William’s interest is in the development of better methods to train dogs and work with people. She has implemented many procedures in handling dogs from experiences in training guard dogs, and the breaking and training of horses using humane training techniques. Her research in how heart rate and heart rate variability accompany behavior changes in dogs has greatly contributed to the development of a number of her training methods. These techniques have been used to rehabilitate aggressive rescue dogs to work with her as her “partner” with clients!
Ms. Williams was the first President of the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT), and also served as the Chair of the Education Committee for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. She provides educational seminars for veterinarians, breed groups, rescues and other dog related professionals.
Nancy enjoys watching scary movies that have nothing to do with real life. She loves working with people, training and riding horses, being with friends, family, her rehabilitated dog partner, Willie and cat partner, Kato.Contact Us | Privacy | Legal | Site Map
