Nicole Wilde has worked with canines, both domestic and exotic (specializing in wolves and wolf hybrids) in training and rescue for many years.

She is the author of Living with Wolfdogs, Wolfdogs A-Z, So You Want to be a Dog Trainer, It’s Not the Dogs, It’s the People!, and One on One: A Trainer’s Guide to Private Training.

Nicole is also on the Advisory Board of Cynology College.

Nicole’s background includes a position as Volunteer Coordinator for Los Angeles Animal Services, instructing volunteers on canine body language, safe handling, training techniques and adoption counseling. She served as Executive Director for a Southern California rescue center for wolves and wolf hybrids, and has given lectures and seminars for animal control officers, schools and other groups. Nicole runs Gentle Guidance Dog Training in Southern California, offering in-home obedience and behavior modification. She continues to do rescue work and education, writes canine behavior columns for various newspapers and magazines, presents seminars nationally and internationally, hosts the “Dog Talk” radio show, and edits the Member Profile section of the APDT newsletter.

Nicole lives with her husband and dogs in the high desert. Her dream is to train the scorpions, rattlesnakes and tarantulas to march single file off the property, and for the coyotes to make her coffee in the morning.
