Dr. Abrantes is scientific director at the Etologisk Institute where he teaches ethology, anthropology, and epistemology. As a guest lecturer in universities world wide, he teaches canine and human behavior.
Author of 17 popular books and numerous articles on pet behavior and advice to pet owners as well as theoretical scientific dissertations, Dr. Abrantes has published two very popular books in English that became instant hits: Dog Language–An Encyclopedia of Canine Behavior and The Evolution Of Canine Social Behavior.
Dr. Abrantes is especially known for his views on social behavior and its applications to the daily understanding of pet behavior; and for using psychology rather than power in teaching animals new behavior patterns patiently and efficiently.
