Lauren Fox graduated Cum Laude from Florida State University in 1996 with a degree in Theater and Cum Laude from The University of Colorado with a degree in English Literature. She worked in veterinary offices from 1993 to 2001 where she managed three large practices. She was trained in technician work, diet and nutrition, and has had many hours of practical experience working with vets. In 1997, Lauren got involved in rescue, becoming the Foster Director for Colorado Springs All Breed Rescue (CSABR), non-profit dog rescue and education organization. She became the Executive Director in 1998. During this time, she apprenticed with a Certified Behavior Counselor and co-founded a training business in 2000.

In 2004, she incorporated her training experience with the rescue and became All Breed Rescue’s Director of Behavior and Training, including the student trainer program. She currently teaches group classes from puppy to advanced competition training, private obedience, and behavior modification and gives educational seminars to community groups. She has taught high school and college level courses on Animal Behavior. Lauren has also been qualified as an expert witness, and has provided testimony in multiple dog-related court cases.

Lauren has rescued dogs for over nine years, and performed temperament evaluations on over 1,300 dogs at area shelters. She rescues and re-homes over 100 dogs a year with All Breed Rescue. She has personally fostered over 65 American Pitbull Terriers and Pitbull mixes in her home. Lauren has clicker trained and rehabilitated hundreds of animals, including many breeds of dogs, wolves, wolf-crosses, cats, parrots, and horses. In addition, she works with numerous animal shelters and rescue groups including the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Noah’s Wish Foundation, and Mariah’s Promise.

Lauren has completed over 4500 hours of research on animal behavior. Her research includes: Teaching humans to understand “animal language” – physical, visual, olfactory, and auditory communication; The use of training methods including auto-shaping, bribes, motivators, reinforcers, and punishments; The use of purely positive methods for resolving aggression problems; Understanding how animals reason, communicate, correct, punish and operate within a family system; How to use games for objective reliability testing; Behavior problem prevention and rehabilitation and more.

Lauren competes in Agility and Obedience and her Pit bull, Obsidian, was one of the top ten agility Pit bulls in the country. She attained CGC certification and ATTS (American Temperament Test Society) certificates on 2 of her dogs. She holds Agility titles on 3 dogs from AKC, UKC, USDAA and NADAC. She competed in Equestrian Hunters/Jumpers and Combined Training Events for over 12 years as well as rode and competed with The Florida State Equestrian Team.

She has been interviewed as an expert by several magazines, including Dog Fancy and Bully Breed Magazine, by Channels 5/30, 11, 13 and Fox 21, The Gazette, and the Sandra Mann Show. She also co-hosted a monthly call-in radio show as an Animal Expert for The Peak 95.1.
