Linda Sperco

Linda Sperco first ventured into the Rally ring with a dog she adopted from a shelter when he was five months old. He literally changed her life; prompting Linda to retire from teaching kindergarten and first grade to become a trainer full-time as a result of the wonderful journey they took through pet training and competition obedience classes.

One of the first APDT Rally judges in the country, Linda officiated at the very first APDT Rally trials in 2001 at the Ellenville conference.  She was also approved as one of the first AKC Rally judges in the country. Linda developed the first Rally training program and classes in the northeast and currently teaches Rally and competition obedience at several locations in New Jersey. She organized the first “post-Ellenville” APDT Rally trials in the tri-state area for her dog training club and continues to host these at least once a year. Linda also serves as the National Coordinator for APDT Rally, has conducted Rally workshops and seminars around the country and at the annual APDT national conference. Her articles on APDT Rally have appeared in several national publications.

Her students consistently earn top spots in the APDT Rally National Rankings each year and consistently earn placements in both AKC and APDT Rally. Titles and placements aside, Linda’s primary goal is to help her students develop the same kind of relationship she enjoys with her dogs; one based on trust, respect and joy.

Linda currently is having fun with two young goldens:  Rye and Rudy. Both Rye and Rudy earned Top 20 places in the APDT Rally National Rankings for 2008. Rudy was one of the first young dogs in the country to earn the APDT Rally Puppy Level title. Rye was the #2 ranked Novice A dog in the country in CDSP Obedience. As well as rally, they are also training for obedience, hunt tests, field trials and laughing a lot.
