A canine education specialist, dog behavior counselor and trainer for over 25 years, Laurie is the owner and Director of Training and Behavior Counseling at Pup 'N Iron Canine Fitness and Learning Center in Fredericksburg, VA. The 11,000 square foot, state of the art dog training, daycare, and fitness and rehabilitation facility is the only one of its kind in the country. She and her Maltese dog Andrew were stars of the CBS television show Greatest American Dog where they demonstrated the beautiful, mutually respectful relationship that can result from positive, dog-friendly training. Laurie hosts the radio podcast show Dog Sports and Performance Network (DSPN) on Pet Life Radio and is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and was elected to serve on the APDT Board of Directors beginning January 2010. A nationally published writer, Laurie's work has been featured in Fitness, Good Housekeeping, Shape, and 9-1-1 magazines. She is a writer for The APDT Chronicle of the Dog, is a weekly columnist for the Stafford County Sun newspaper and is a featured author in the newly released book The Dog Trainer's Resource 2. Emphasizing relationship-based training, Laurie encourages pet parents to form solid partnerships with their dogs by participating in a variety of activities such animal assisted therapy and competitive dog sports. She is currently a judge for APDT, AKC and UKC Rally Obedience events.
