The APDT Call for Shorts proposals are now open for the APDT 2013 Annual Educational Conference & Trade Show!
APDT Shorts are brief 45-minute presentations in a smaller setting than the large halls allowing you to speak to a smaller group of conference attendees.
We are looking for speaker proposals that support the APDT Mission and Vision Statements and cover new and timely topics. Do you have a unique idea for better training classes? A special skill, or perspective, that sets you apart? Do you specialize in something you think the APDT audience would benefit from? Visit this page to see the scope and range of topics at the 2013 conference.
Presenters will have access to a microphone, but no AV or presentation equipment will be provided. Your audience will be pet professionals, primarily trainers - not pet parents. This is a volunteer opportunity for any registered attendee who has an interesting topic to share. If you haven't presented at the APDT conference in the past, this is a great way to get exposure as well as for you to be discovered as a future speaker.
Requirements of Presenting APDT Shorts
- 45 minutes.
- No PowerPoint or video.
- Must be registered for at least one day of conference when shorts will be presented (Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25).
- Topics and content should be targeted to pet professionals, not pet parents.
- Selected presenters must sign an agreement outlining the date, time, and place of presentation.
- Selected presenters must submit a 1 page presentation outline for inclusion on the online conference presentation download area.
- Speakers must maintain an educational and professional development focus in presentations, and eliminate sales messages.
How Will You Know if You Are Selected?
If you are selected you will be contacted by the APDT staff via email, by July 1, 2013.
If you are not selected to present, you will receive notification by June 30. Please remember we receive a large number of proposals and can only select a small number of speakers each year. We receive many wonderful proposals we are not able to select due to limited speaker slots.
Remember to complete and submit all items to have your submission considered. We strongly suggest that you compose your answers first in a word processing program such as Microsoft Word and save the file. Then cut and paste the text into the form here. Tool to check your word count
