2010 Poster Session
Call for Poster Submissions
The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) is inviting graduate students, faculty members, and university researchers to display posters highlighting their research in topics relevant to animal behavior and training.
Submit your poster abstract by August 15, 2010 to poster@apdt.com for the APDT Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia October 20-24, 2010.
APDT produces the premiere dog training and behavior studies conference in the United States. APDT membership has grown to over 5,000 members worldwide and consist of dog trainers, animal behaviorists, world renowned speakers/authors, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, shelter personnel, and service dog trainers. APDT members are committed to becoming better trainers through education. This event is certified to provide Continuing Education Credits to Certified Dog Trainers, Veterinarians, and Veterinary Technicians. Selection of the poster presentations will be based upon evaluations of abstracts submitted.
To submit an abstract for consideration, please e-mail poster@APDT.com. Abstracts are due August 15, 2010. Abstracts are peer-reviewed and formal selection and invitation letters will be sent out by August 30, 2010.
APDT will provide the presenters with necessary display equipment (please see the next page for detailed poster requirements). Selected presenters will be expected to be available during conference Poster Display sessions on October 22, 2010 to discuss their research with the conference attendees. Posters will be displayed throughout the conference.

Poster Session Details and Requirements
Benefits:
- Free one day registration to the APDT Annual Conference on October 22, 2010.
- Chance to introduce yourself and your research to the leaders in the canine behavior and training industry.
Participation:
- Submit your poster abstract by August 15, 2010 to poster@APDT.com.
- Selection and formal invitation letters will be send out by August 30, 2010
- Registration to the Annual Conference is required. Authors will be sent a registration form with the invitation letter. To waive the registration fee the author must indicate “Academic Poster Session Participant” in the special billing area on the registration form.
Abstract Submission Requirements:
- Create your abstract in Microsoft Word.
- Use upper case bold size 14 Arial for the abstract title and all author's names.
- Use size 12 Arial for the abstract text.
- The body of the abstract may not exceed 2000 characters in length.
- Submit your abstract as a Word document with the file extension ".doc" (Word 2003 compatible)
- In the body of the email include:
- Poster title.
- The presenting author's name, position, and institution.
- Presenting authors should indicate if they are current members of APDT.
- Email abstracts as an attachment to: poster@APDT.com.
Poster Requirements:
- The author will use one 30”x40” foam poster board(s) provided by APDT.
- The poster(s) will be displayed on easels and can be either horizontal or vertical.
- The top of each poster is the title area which includes: Research Title, Author, Faculty/Supervisor, and University.
- A business card holder can be attached to the poster, no tables will be provided.
- Adhesive materials, foam boards and a workspace will be available for assembling posters in the APDT staff workroom at the hotel.
Travel, Lodging and Conference Registration:
- Poster participation includes complimentary conference registration for Friday, October 22 but does not include transportation, lodging or other travel costs. Fees for spouses and guests of the author are not waived.
Display Times:
- Posters will be displayed at the Conference Poster Display Area. Authors are expected to be available to discuss their posters with the conference attendees during the following periods: Friday October 22 between 12:00pm – 1:30pm and 5:00pm – 6:30pm
- Authors should arrive in time to assemble their posters for display.
- After the conference posters are the responsibility of the author or they will be discarded.
