APDT eLearning Course Frequently Asked Questions

What is an APDT eLearning course?

What is an APDT eLearning course?

APDT eLearning courses are 90-minute web-based sessions that integrates a combination of a PowerPoint slideshow, audience text-based “chat” questions, and an audio presentation. When relevant, a video presentation is also included. Each course includes a 10 minutes introduction, 60 minutes presentation, and 15 - 20 minutes for text-based Q&A at the end of the presentation.

What is the difference between a webinar, webcast, teleclass, and teleseminar?

What is the difference between a webinar, webcast, teleclass, and teleseminar?

Teleseminars are lecture-style events, telephone-ONLY seminars. An unlimited number of participants call into a telephone number and listen over the phone. There is no visual component. These are typically single events.

Teleclasses (or telecourses) are the same as teleseminars, but the number of participants is limited to allow for discussion and Q&A between presenter and participant. These are either single events or a series.

Webinars (short for WEB based semINARS) are presentations, lectures, workshops, or seminars that are transmitted over the internet. They include audio and visual components. They allow live interaction between attendees and presenters.

Webcasts (short for WEB based broadCASTS) are similar to webinars, but do not allow live interaction between participant and presenter.

How long do I have access to a recording?

As of 2012, access to eLearning course recordings is limited to 60 days. It is standard for eLearning courses presented by any organization to be limited to 30 days, however APDT decided to double that to 60 days as we know how busy our attendees are. Also, unrestricted access to recordings allows unlimited sharing of the information. As such, it would not take long for the cost of presenting webinars to BECOME PROHIBITIVE FOR THE APDT TO RUN THE PROGRAM. APDT wants to ensure we are able to continue providing quality, diverse, affordable educational opportunities and we are working hard to expand the number of free webinars IN ADDITION TO OUR REGULAR LOW-COST ONES.

Can I download a recording and save it on my computer?

eLearning courses are no longer available for download to save on your computer. APDT is committed to protecting the copywritten material that was created by eLearning course presenters, AND unrestricted downloadability allows unlimited sharing of protected information.
